Getting to the guesthouse

La Vallée des Dunes is located in Hassilabied, just outside Merzouga, at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Whether you’re traveling by car or bus, it’s easy to get there.

By car

La Vallée des Dunes is easily accessible by car. From Errachidia, the trip takes about 2 hours.

We recommend arriving during the day: you’ll be able to enjoy the scenery more and find your way to the inn more easily.

By bus

Two companies serve the region: Supratours and CTM.
Main routes:
From Marrakech, via Ouarzazate and Errachidia
From Fez, via Midelt and Errachidia

Supratours

We recommend getting off at the Hassilabied stop, located about 300 meters from the hostel.
It’s just a few minutes’ walk to reach us.
We can also pick you up at the bus stop upon request.

CTM

CTM buses stop in Rissani.
From there, you can reach La Vallée des Dunes by taxi or public transportation.
If needed, we’d be happy to help you arrange your transfer.

When is the best time to visit ?

You can explore the desert year-round, but some seasons are more pleasant than others.

From mid-September through November, and then from March through April, temperatures are particularly pleasant. The days are sunny, the nights remain mild, and the days are longer than in winter. This is the time of year we most often recommend.

Winter also offers excellent conditions for exploring the desert, with mild, sunny days. However, temperatures can drop significantly once night falls.

From May through mid-September, it often gets very hot during the day. We generally advise against traveling during this period due to the extreme heat.

What should you pack in your suitcase ?

A few well-chosen items of clothing are all you need to enjoy your stay in the desert.

• Lightweight, comfortable clothing for daytime.
• A jacket or sweater for cooler evenings and nights, especially in winter.
• Closed-toe shoes for walking in the dunes.
• A hat, cap, or scarf, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
• A water bottle is always useful.
• A small backpack to carry essentials on excursions.

Upon your arrival

We welcome you starting at 2 p.m. On the day of your departure, rooms must be vacated by 11 a.m.

If you plan to arrive after 9 p.m., please let us know so we can welcome you in the best possible way.

Practical information for your stay in Merzouga

Payment

Reservations made on our website are paid for online via secure payment.

Services booked on-site, as well as any remaining balance for your stay, should preferably be paid in dirhams. However, euros are accepted.

Credit cards are not accepted.

The nearest ATM are located in Rissani and in downtown Merzouga.
